Sam Stookesberry is a seasoned communications strategist with more than a decade of experience across a diverse range of industries including government, public affairs, education, commercial finance and small business. He leverages his expertise in strategic communications, message development and media relations and his extensive history working with national, local and trade media to benefit his clients.
At GBSM, Sam has led efforts to engage diverse stakeholder groups to advance policy and business priorities, spearheaded major branding efforts and developed strategic communications campaigns for internal and external audiences. He advises clients along the Front Range and across Colorado on issues of local and national significance.
After working on Capitol Hill as a deputy press secretary and serving in the same role on a successful campaign for the US Senate, Sam founded a public relations consulting practice, where he worked with clients ranging from local food & beverage start-ups to national education providers. He has developed award-winning public outreach campaigns and guided organizations through an array of crisis situations, including food safety issues, school closures, employee misconduct and new federal regulations. He prides himself on his ability to authentically engage diverse stakeholders and create partnerships between communities and the organizations that serve them.
Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in international political economy with a minor in Mandarin Chinese from the University of Puget Sound. He is a fourth-generation Coloradan who enjoys skiing, backpacking, paddle tennis, pickleball, and spending time with his rescue greyhound.
